Button MASH - Adventure PMV
Video Timeline
Description
The cover art is a parody of the game FEZ - a wildy successful puzzle platformer with a charming 8-bit graphics style. The music ("Adventure" by Disasterpeace) is likewise a retro bit-tune song which also spawned a live orchestra performance. As you can hear pretty fast, the song is completely not something anyone ever used or will use for a PMV - especially the orchestra version. But I had the idea of using Hooves-Art's clips of Button Mash (who gained a gamer reputation in the MLP fanbase) and was looking for something that fit his theme. I browsed old C64 melodies, but the SID tunes are a bit harsh on the ears and the remixes are so good, they sound too modern. So I considered modern bit-tunes and settled on FEZ instead of Terraria, because I always liked the song "Adventure" and wanted to experiment if it could work. I had to slow down the videos quite significantly to fit the calmer mood, but thanks to AI frame interpolation it was possible without looking like stop-motion film. Next problem was the inconsistent rhythm in the video clips without loop points, which made the syncing to the beats (which you barely recocnize anyway) another hassle, but I managed. Enjoy!
